Our five-play Mainstage Subscription Series begins in April with POLISHING SHAKESPEARE, Brian Dykstra’s timely comedy written in iambic pentameter. How can live theatres sell out all their seats without selling out their integrity these days? Headed for Off-Broadway in Manhattan later in 2025, this will be only the second time the play has been produced.
Coming in May is the regional premiere of MARY JANE, Amy Herzog’s heartbreaking story of a mother’s unconditional love, featuring a magnificent 5-woman ensemble cast.
This summer, look for Carmen Borgia’s rollicking musical extravaganza SOUTH: A NAUTICAL MUSICAL, featuring pirates, cannibals, drunken townsfolk and caffeine dependency on the high seas. Some of you may remember that we originally presented this locally-penned work as a concert staging back in 2017. So happy to be mounting a full production!
Did you love our productions of Hanna Moscovitch’s EAST OF BERLIN and SEXUAL MISCONDUCT OF THE MIDDLE CLASSES? This autumn we’ll be presenting the U.S. premiere of her most recent drama RED LIKE FRUIT, a searing examination of intimate partner violence and the search for whose voice we trust to tell our stories.
And since we like to include at least one familiar title in each of our seasons, we’ll be closing out the season with Ernest Thompson’s heartwarming American classic ON GOLDEN POND. All in all, a exciting and eclectic bunch, with something for everyone!
